I loved the R.E.A.D. Intervention modules!!! The modules very easy to navigate and I liked the online format. I could easily start and stop the modules when needed. The PDF materials will be very helpful to support my teaching. I thought the demonstration videos were fantastic and Jennifer presented in a very clear and well organized way. She really helped me understand the best ways to support students as they learn foundational skills to become successful readers. With the knowledge shared in the modules, I feel I am ready to use the suggested lesson outlines, teaching strategies and assessments to teach my students with the OG based approach. Miss Jen is an incredibly talented, dedicated, and meticulous practitioner. She uses evidenced based tools, techniques, and assessments in order to 'break the code' and teach kids how to read. My struggling first grade son was deflated, apprehensive, and self conscious with his reading and writing abilities. Within 5 months of working with Miss Jen, he has caught up an entire grade level. He is now confident and proud of his reading ability and even surprises himself at times. All children should have that success and Miss Jen provides the tools and techniques to achieve it! I am grateful for all that she has done and continues to do for my son. My son (2nd grade) started working with Jen this summer. I was hesitant about working via zoom because my son also has ADD and virtual learning was not great for him. It has been wonderful! Read Intervention is an evidence-based, Orton Gillingham tutoring program in which a certified Masters degree level Reading Specialist, who also is certified in the Orton Gillingham method, works 1:1 with your child for 45 minutes to an hour depending on your child's attention span. I found Jen through an internet search after a neuro-developmental pediatrician diagnosed my daughter with dyslexia. The pediatrician strongly recommended someone with Jen's specific experience and level of expertise. In other words, a Masters level Reading Specialist with the highest level of training in Orton Gillingham. Simply put, Jen is an amazing teacher and Reading Specialist. She is kind, warm, professional and engages my daughter in structured, intensive reading focused on decoding and other strategies. When I read at home with my daughter, she resists. When she tutors with Jen she almost always looks forward to it. My daughter has been with Jen for a few months, several days a week, and I have seen great progress in her reading. She is reading nearly at grade level. Jen also takes the time to explain to me my daughter’s areas of challenge and what she is doing to address those challenges. We will continue with Jen for years to come, until my daughter is a very fluent and skilled reader.
